It is important to pay attention to detail. The tide pools, discovered one summer vacation by the sea, or the fairy moss garden behind the woodpile in the backyard are tiny worlds of inspiration and wonder.

I work on a micro level, looping fiber into hundreds of small 3D elements joined together in an intuitive way. I have learned to let go of any preconceived design and just enjoy the process, getting lost in the repetitive movement of needle and thread. My tools are many shapes and sizes- twigs, stones, buttons, and takeaway sushi chopsticks.  The tool defines the form. As fiber elements are sewn together the work develops an organic quality that reminds us of natural environments.
